Canadian solar provider accused of scamming customers with false savings projections. Canadian provincial utility giant Hydro-Québec is warning electricity consumers that economic savings promised by a Quebec solar provider are practically impossible to realize, the CBC reports. The company is accused of misleading customers by providing out-sized projections regarding energy bill savings. Francis Gareau entered into a $36,000 decade-long financing plan for 15 solar panels and a heat pump after a representative of the company, Rénovations et constructions Gauthier et Péloquin, promised he would realize a 70 percent savings. He said his savings were only about $5 per month. “It’s a big scam,” Gareau said.
